We recently completed a full engineered oak flooring installation in Minehead, transforming an uneven subfloor into a clean, modern living space with a high-quality wood finish.
This project required sub floor preparation work to ensure a solid, long-lasting result.
The Brief
The customer wanted a durable, medium coloured wood floor to complement their living space. Key requirements included:
- A high-quality engineered oak finish
- Floor to be fitted under fireplace hearth
- A secure, level subfloor
- A fully bonded installation for strength and longevity
- Clean, modern finishing with new skirting boards
Our Approach
Subfloor Preparation
The existing subfloor consisted of old, uneven floorboards, which required significant preparation before installation.
To create a stable base we:
- Secured the original floorboards
- Installed 9mm plywood across the entire area
- Ensured the surface was level and suitable for a glued installation
This step is critical for preventing movement and ensuring a professional finish.
Floor Installation
We supplied and installed a premium engineered oak floor from the Forest Range – Cashel Oak.
- Boards were fully bonded using a high-quality MS polymer adhesive
- Carefully fitted to ensure tight joins and consistent header spacing
- Installed across the full length of the room for a seamless look
Detailing & Finishing
To complete the project:
- New MDF skirting boards were installed for a clean, new look finish
- Special attention was given to the fireplace area, where the hearth had been installed with a precise 22mm gap. This allowed the flooring to fit neatly underneath, creating a flush, high-end finish
- Solid oak door threshold and pipe covers installed
The Result
The finished floor completely transformed the space.
The engineered oak adds warmth and character, while the professional installation ensures durability and stability. The seamless finish around the fireplace and new skirting gives the room a clean, polished look.
