Our thorough subfloor preparation process

Just like a house cannot be built on sand, a wood floor needs a good foundation. Subfloor preparation is the most important stage in achieving a quality and long-lasting finish and helps to prolong the life of your new floor.

Before any installation, we will:

Carry out an inspection of the existing subfloor to ensure it is sound and level
Check moisture and humidity readings and take action if required
Take accurate measurements to ensure a precise fit

Wood floor installation method

There three main installation methods for wood floors. We will always advise on the most suitable option for your property and flooring type.

Glue down – adhering the wood floor directly to the sub floor
Secret nailed – nailing through the tongue of the board making the nails invisible once the floor is complete
Floated – laying the wood floor over a layer of suitable underlay

Finishing your wood floor

Wood floors arrive either pre-finished or un-finished.

Pre-finished floors come already treated with your chosen finish
Un-finished are installed first and then finished on site by our team

After water damage to our wood floor Matt took us through some options regarding colour and finish, the result was fabulous, we even decided on a border which we hadn't had on our previous floor. Both Matt and Will are perfectionists - they worked relentlessly for 4 days to repair our wooden flooring and gave honest valuable advice. The end result is outstanding.
